Fox Boss: No Plans ‘Right Now’ to Revive PRISON BREAK and 24
August 7, 2019 by Marisa Roffman
Though PRISON BREAK star Dominic Purcell has repeatedly expressed interest in another series revival—the drama originally ran from 2005-2009; it had a nine-episode event season in 2017—Fox boss Charlie Collier told reporters after his Television Critics Association session that nothing was currently in the works.
“PRISON BREAK, 24, THE OC, before this 90210—we happen to have some iconic IPs that people will want to see more of,” Collier said. “It’s a blessing. But the right way to do this, I think, very much is the way 90210 came together: at the right time, with the right people on both sides of the camera. We have no plan right now to revive PRISON BREAK or any of the other franchises. But when the creators come with a story they think is the right time to tell, we’re ready to listen. Those are some franchises I’m so proud…to have in our stable.”
While PRISON BREAK and 24 both had returns to their universes post-original finales, THE OC has yet to be touched…yet.
“Not yet on THE OC,” Collier said. “But I look at it and I think of all the shows we all grew up with on Fox are amazing pieces of our legacy. We take the legacy and the history very seriously. If we get questions from the writers or talent [about a revival], the first thing we saw is, ‘Please come in.’”
