Freeform is Developing THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO
September 19, 2019 by Marisa Roffman
Freeform is developing an adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO.
The 2017 novel follows Evelyn Hugo, a reclusive fictional iconic star, who recruits Monique, a young journalist to write her final tell-all story. The story is told in dual times—modern day and in Evelyn’s younger years—as both women struggle to navigate the expected (and unexpected) challenges of their young lives.
The potential series is being developed by Fox 21 Television Studios with Reid, Ilene Chaiken, and Jennifer Beals. The trio also have their own respective connections: Chaiken and Beals have worked together on THE L WORD off-on for the past 15 years; Beals recently lent her voice to the Audible audiobook of Reid’s novel DAISY JONES & THE SIX—which is also being adapted for television.
Chaiken is repped by 3 Arts. Beals is repped by APA. Reid is repped by WME, Circle of Confusion, Park & Fine Literary and Bloom, Hergott.
