STUMPTOWN – “Forget it Dex, It’s Stumptown.” – Dex Parios – a strong, assertive and sharp-witted army veteran with a complicated love life, gambling debt and a brother to take care of – works as a PI in Portland, Oregon. With only herself to rely on, she solves other people’s messes with a blind eye toward her own, finding herself at odds with the police and in the firing line of criminals, on the series premiere of “Stumptown,” WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 25 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. Cobie Smulders is no stranger to television—in addition to her nine season run on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, she also had a recent two-year stint on Netflix’s FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE, as well as a gaggle of guest spots—but her new role in STUMPTOWN could be her biggest yet.

In the new ABC series, Smulders plays Dex, an army vet-turned-private investigator with a complicated past and an even messier present. (The series is based on the graphic novel by the same name.)

“This character, there’s the opportunity for a lot of growth, a lot of amazing, interesting storylines,” Smulders says in the video below. “It’s sort of a combination of doing comedy, action, and drama. so I don’t think I’ll ever be bored.”

The drama has also allowed for an exciting new opportunity for the actress: executive producing. Check out the video for more from Smulders…
