About Last Night…Animation Domination, CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD, and THE ROOKIE
September 30, 2019 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!
THE SIMPSONS: The crazy thing about THE SIMPSONS lasting 5 billion years (not a complaint) is that it can do a similar storyline and put a new twist on it. Homer already went viral, but before, it was about him teaching his ridiculousness to athletes. This go-round, it was about how he and Bart maintained internet fame. Very few shows have that kind of rope.
CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD: I love the idea of ABC families competing against each other, but, man, I wish Anthony Anderson—who gets hilariously competitive against other celebs when he’s competing on game shows—hadn’t belittled his on-screen kids when they flubbed the final round.
BLESS THE HARTS: I wish I enjoyed the pilot more. I may stick with it because Sundays are a little less insane than other days, but it wasn’t where I wanted it to be.
BOB’S BURGERS: This was the very wrong lesson of the episode, but, man, I want to go to a water park. I do love that Bob thought to retroactively get Linda an engagement ring, and the name Nat Kinkle made me laugh so hard.
FAMILY GUY: You knew the moment the poor dude told Meg he loved her he was doomed.
THE ROOKIE: Woooooow, Tim being mad Lucy because she didn’t throw him under the bus for saying he might kill himself is a choice. A cranky, cranky choice.
I do feel bad Jackson has to quasi be a rookie again, though. It would have felt cheesy if all three rookies passed with no complications, but technically passing and still being on probation stinks.
