About Last Night…THE FLASH, THE CONNERS, ARROW, and More
October 16, 2019 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!
THE VOICE: There were mostly good battles, but many were pretty forgettable. (The real exception being the final one.) And I get that being on Team Gwen means cool fashion, but in an hour-long episode—especially when multiple battles were shown only via clips—that sure was a lot of time focusing on non-singing elements.
THE FLASH: I get Barry is in the grieving process of what could happen in “Crisis”—firmly in denial in the start, but moved into depression by mid-episode—but goodness, stop trying to time travel!!!!
I’ve really missed Barry-Joe scenes.
THE CONNERS: Poor Darlene didn’t even get to pull a Kelly Taylor; instead, she got dumped by both men who were interested in her.
As someone who didn’t see the original ROSEANNE, that flashback to David and Darlene having similar problems as teens was really powerful. I’m sad for them (and don’t really believe they’re over, even though obviously Johnny Galecki doesn’t exactly need a job), and also feel bad for long-time fans of that couple.
ARROW: This was probably my favorite premiere the show has done. I love that it really felt like an homage to the series we’ve spent so many seasons watching—bringing back a lot of important characters, on a different Earth, and having our Oliver interact with them (often knowing that they are long-gone on his world).
FBI: I get this is not the kind of show where Maggie would have been wrong about her hunch, but it would have been arguably more interesting if she had been.
