CHICAGO FIRE: Monica Raymund to Return for an Episode

CHICAGO FIRE’s Firehouse 51 is going to get one heck of a surprise in the winter finale: Monica Raymund’s Gabby Dawson is returning for an episode, a rep for the show confirmed. EW was first to report the news.

The hour, penned by CHICAGO FIRE co-creator Derek Haas is going to be a big one.  “I’m telling you, I’m throwing a lot of big things into the winter finale,” he previously teased. “I pitched some things back in June to Dick [Wolf] I was worried we weren’t going to be able to pull off or pull together. And it’s all come together.”

Raymund last appeared on the show in the season 7 premiere, as she opted to move to Puerto Rico—much to the chagrin of her husband, Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer). “I was so thrilled she came back for one episode; I was basically begging,” Haas said at the time. He was also very clear he would love to have her back in the future: “The door is open, absolutely.”

In her absence, Casey has attempted to move on—and there have been potential sparks between him and Dawson’s good friend Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer).

Raymund’s return episode, “Best Friend Magic,” is set to air Wednesday, November 20.
