ARROW: Emily Bett Rickards to Return for the Series Finale

Emily Bett Rickards will return for the ARROW series finale, star Stephen Amell announced on Twitter. A rep for the series confirmed the news.

“There’ll be a lot of news coming out about our final episode over the next few months,” he wrote, attaching a gif of Rickards as Felicity. “I prefer when you hear it from us. Welcome back Emily.”

Rickards joined the show in season 1 and was a part of its first seven seasons; she announced she’d be departing the show ahead of its final season.

Prior to the final season starting, The CW president Mark Pedowitz admitted he wasn’t sure if she’d be back for the planned finale. “Emily was terrific on the show,” Pedowitz told reporters at the time. “We believe [showrunner] Beth Schwartz did a great job wrapping up Felicity’s storyline last year. If Beth finds a way to bring her back and Emily is available, we’d love to have her. Otherwise, I’m pleased at how they said goodbye to the character.”

However, at Comic-Con, ARROW executive producer Marc Guggenheim acknowledged he had a planned final scene for the series mapped out—but it was dependent on outside factors. Could Rickards have been that missing piece?
