Let’s talk about Thursday night’s TV!

GREY’S ANATOMY: Well, I was an emotional wreck after that episode. It’s interesting, because normally shows don’t go as big for X5oth episode…but it’s also definitely possible the show won’t reach its next big milestone. (Episode 400 would come in a hypothetical season 18.) I loved the use of flashbacks and returning characters. Alex getting the letters from past doctors—including Cristina and Addison—to support Meredith was an incredible touch for people who wouldn’t have been able to show back up. (Alex’s growth over the run of the series has truly been incredible and earned, too.)

SUPERSTORE: Aww, poor Garrett.

The charity storyline just made me kind of sad. I get what they were trying to do—and everyone would do what they could to protect Mateo—but I wish Amy hadn’t been so blatantly in the wrong.

SUPERNATURAL: Hopefully the SUPERNATURAL writers have gotten all of their “brother killing brother” sequences out of the way, because there’s no way I want that to be the end of this show.

THE GOOD PLACE: This was my favorite episode of the season. It finally felt like things were going somewhere. And the Janet Rebellion?? So great. [For more about the episode, here’s what D’Arcy Carden had to say.]

A MILLION LITTLE THINGS: Rome broke my heart. I appreciate that he acknowledged he was sad, but wasn’t suicidal; there is a difference. And it would be really weird if he wasn’t heartbroken that his mother unexpectedly died.

I’m still struggling with Katherine. She still seems so mad at Delilah—which is justified!—and absolving Eddie from everything. In doing that, it also feels like she’s manipulating him into thinking the worst of the situation. Delilah is also being selfish, but the notion she would take her kids and just ditch everyone to hide out in France…is odd. Also, if Eddie blows up Delilah’s life, he’s also losing his relationship with her kids, too.

MOM: I’m really happy for Jill that Andy is willing to give up alcohol to stay in her life. (But poor Adam just lost his drinking buddy.) Jill has lost so much during her time on the show, so I hope this bit of happiness lasts.

Speaking of losing stuff: Marjorie needs a break, too. It’s sad that Tammy has to sacrifice her comfort and happiness to help her friend out.

WILL & GRACE: Will’s frantic quest to have a child never really clicked, in part because Matt Bomer’s McCoy was never really there. It’s sad Will is heartbroken, and I’m very curious how long it takes for them to realize he could be a father to Grace’s child.

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT: This is a very nerdy, technical thing, but I love when shows that don’t traditionally use a lot of VFX have to implement it in an episode. I loved the look of the (drug-influenced) “machine elves.”

As for the case itself, I felt awful for Rollins. (I also expected her “undercover” stint to be more false, but the fact that she was close to her persona made it all the more tragic.) I’m glad she and Carisi were able to talk things out, because I do miss their friendship, and they’ve certainly been hit/miss this season.

(And, hey, how about those new opening credits?!)
