THE CROWN to End with Season 5

THE CROWN will end with its fifth season, Netflix announced.The series, which only dropped its third season last year, will conclude with Imelda Staunton stepping into the role of Queen Elizabeth II in season 5, the streaming platform shared. Olivia Colman is currently portraying the Queen and will continue in the role in season 4. (Claire Foy portrayed the character for the first two seasons.)
Originally, the plan was for THE CROWN to run six seasons, but creator Peter Morgan said in a statement that things shifted: “Now that we have begun work on the stories for [season 5] it has become clear to me that this is the perfect time and place to stop.”
