CHICAGO MED: Yaya DaCosta on April’s Love Triangle, Reaching Episode 100

CHICAGO MED celebrates its 100th episode with the Wednesday, March 18 episode, “The Ghosts Of The Past,” with a big wedding—and some significant love drama.

Though April (Yaya DaCosta) is engaged to Ethan (Brian Tee)—and the duo is undergoing IVF to try and start their family—she’s still keeping her recent kiss with Crockett (Dominic Rains) a secret.

“She is very confused,” DaCosta previews. “She loves Ethan so much and she doesn’t want to hurt him. She knows she messed up. She’s also confused about these other feelings that she’s having for this other doctor. She has to figure out if, when, and how to tell him what happened in a way that doesn’t harm their relationship. Because if she doesn’t, it will come out at some point, and if it’s not from her, it could be very, very harmful.”

Making things extra complicated is Crockett and Ethan’s newfound friendship. “Because Crockett knows what happened, it’s also a little shady looking on his part,” DaCosta admits.

As the series celebrates its milestone 100th episode—MED was among the shows that also got picked up for an additional three seasons by NBC—DaCosta is just thankful to celebrate how far they’ve come.

“Time flies when you’re having fun,” she says. “We really are having fun. And it’s just a blessing to still be here in a day and age where shows aren’t lasting as long as they used to. I’m just very, very grateful to be a part of it.”
