About Last Night…AMERICAN IDOL, BATWOMAN, ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST, and More

Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!
THE SIMPSONS: Is it bad that a spaghetti-filled grilled cheese sandwich sounds delicious?
AMERICAN IDOL: I think the duet round was a brilliant idea, but it made showcasing the singers really difficult. I didn’t need the backstage drama that normally comes with group round (which often takes up a huge amount of those episode(s)—though of course there was some), but having to show like 2x the number of musical acts meant we just got the smallest of snippets of a number of the duos.
BATWOMAN: Alice is frequently the best part of BATWOMAN, and I truly wonder how the heck they’re going to either find a way to keep her on the show or how they’ll evolve past her. I loved the scenes with her and Kate, especially when they were on the floor having their heart-to-heart. And, yeah, she’s locked up now, but there is absolutely zero way that sticks.
So the elder Fox’s death was absolutely part of a bigger, Bat-related conspiracy, huh?
BOB’S BURGERS: Ugh, way too much vomit. But I have to appreciate the manipulation to get to a pretty average tourist trap.
ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST: Uhhhhh, that Joan storyline is deeply uncomfortable.
Max staging a flashmob for Zoey was so weird??? It definitely did not seem like something Zoey would have been into prior to this, but it was a good episodic twist for Zoey to be blindsided by the reveal that, yep, this musical number was really happening.
I’m also glad Max knows the truth. It feels like the superhero show balance of when to reveal the hero’s secret identity to people they care about. How will Max handle things going forward now that he knows his every thought might be broadcast to Zoey whether he wants it or not?
WESTWORLD: Wow, it was deeply distressing to see the burned up Westworld given the real location was burned in a real-life fire a few years back.
I don’t think for a second this is what’s going on, but so much of what we’ve seen so far feels like set-up in a final season.
(And #SaveDrogon.)
SUPERGIRL: Ugh, poor Alex.
THE ROOKIE: Wow, I had never thought about how a bad credit score could totally mess up an officer’s career. It logically makes sense, but truly nothing I had ever considered.
