Daily Dose of Joy: THE X-FILES’ Mulder Teaches Scully to Play Baseball
March 26, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
[This is part of our ongoing series. We all need joy right now. Here’s hoping this helps.]
In a normal world, the baseball season would be kicking off today. And while MLB has stepped up to make a number of past games available, a number of shows have also paid tribute to the best sport. (Including my beloved PITCH, but that’s a lot more bittersweet now.)
In times of need, there is the absolutely delightful THE X-FILES episode, “The Unnatural,” which told the story of a 1940s era alien (played by the fantastic Jesse L. Martin) who fell in love with baseball and did everything he could to play the sport.
At the end of the episode, in present day, Mulder (David Duchovny, who also wrote/directed the episode) decided he needed to teach Scully (Gillian Anderson) to play baseball.
