About Last Night…THE VOICE, PRODIGAL SON, and LATE LATE SHOW SPECIAL
March 31, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!
THE VOICE: If you had told me last week that Team Blake would be doing “Good As Hell”…I would have thought you had become seriously confused. But wowza. And what a high bar to start the show with.
Honestly, it felt like one of the better Battle Shows in recent memory because people were so good. And that final “Come Together” battle? I’m so glad both members of Team Legend ended up sticking around.
PRODIGAL SON: OF COURSE AN OLD FRIEND OF JESSICA’S WAS GOING TO BE EVIL.
I found the episode to be a lot of fun. The Whitly family dynamic was as twisted as ever. Gil was not having Jessica’s admirer. The ballet world was a lot of fun through the PRODIGAL lens.
But now the real question is how bad is Dermot Mulroney’s character. Serial killer? Uh, worse? Or was Eve’s sister overselling his evil qualities to try and save her own life? (I mean, I don’t believe it’s the last one, because what fun is that?)
Also: The PRODIGAL SON April Fool’s gag is the only one allowed this year.
HOMEFEST: JAMES CORDEN’S LATE LATE SHOW SPECIAL: Much like the iHeart special on Fox the night before, this was lovely. I’ve never seen DEAR EVAN HANSEN (and I try to avoid listening to cast soundtracks until I can see their production), but the closing song was a beautiful touch.
