Couch Madness: The 2020 Winners!
April 13, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
For the past few weeks, Give Me My Remote launched our own kind of bracket, pitting similarly titled episodes against each other in what we dubbed Couch Madness. (Credit for the excellent name goes fellow reporter Chris Hayner.)
And now, we have our first winners! Keep reading for the shows that went all the way with “Ghost,” “The End,” “Requiem,” “Bound,” “Tabula Rasa,” and “The Ghost in the Machine.” (You can also check out all the previous brackets here.)
“Ghost” winner: CASTLE (4): “A woman found drowned in a bathtub full of motor oil is initially identified as a missing suburban housewife, until it’s discovered that her identity had been stolen from a deceased child, and that she had been a fugitive from a terrorism charge for two decades.”
“The End” winner: SUPERNATURAL (3): “Dean awakens five years in the future in an abandoned city and is attacked by humans infected with a demonic virus that makes them mindless, flesh-eating zombies. Zachariah soon appears and explains to Dean that the world he sees is the result of his refusal to help the angels fight Lucifer.”
“Tabula Rasa” winner: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (2): “While trying to find a way to make Buffy forget about her afterlife experience, Willow inadvertently casts a spell that erases everyone’s memories.”
“Requiem” winner: THE X-FILES (3): “Seven years after their first case, Mulder and Scully return to Bellefleur, Oregon to see Billy Miles and investigate a new series of abductions in the local forest, risking their partnership and lives.”
“Ghost in the Machine” winner: BONES (7): “The team talk to the deceased teenaged victim as if he is alive. A psychic visits and says the victim called her to help with the case. The boy’s spirit affects everyone as they look for his killer.”
“Bound” winner: FRINGE (4):“Olivia has been abducted, and Broyles and the Fringe division must investigate her disappearance – while also undergoing an audit by an agent from Olivia’s past who bears a major grudge against her.”
