May 8, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB is coming to Netflix July 3, the streaming platform announced.
According to Netflix, BSC “follows the friendship and adventures of Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace), Mary-Anne Spier (Malia Baker), Claudia Kishi (Momona Tamada), Stacey McGill (Shay Rudolph), and Dawn Schafer (Xochitl Gomez) as the middle-schoolers start their babysitting business in the town of Stoneybrook, Connecticut. Rounding out the cast, Alicia Silverstone plays Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, the selfless single-mother of Kristy Thomas and love interest of all around good guy Watson Brewer, played by Mark Feuerstein.” The half-hour series also stars Marc Evan Jackson as Richard Spier.
The show, based on the Ann M. Martin book series, was previously adapted into a short-lived television show and a 1995 film. Rachel Shukert is the showrunner, while Lucia Aniello is a director/executive producer. (Martin serves as a producer on the Netflix adaptation.)
And the first teaser? It’s pretty perfect…
