COUNCIL OF DADS Exclusive Clip: Is Robin Ready to Move On?
May 14, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
As COUNCIL OF DAD’s Robin (Sarah Wayne Callies) navigates her grief after losing her husband Scott (Tom Everett Scott), she struggles with the concept of when she should be trying to romantically move on.
“Here’s the thing about the heart: it doesn’t have a timeline, logic, pride or shame,” Callies said via email. “It has its own truth, its own needs and desires. We can have all the emotions about the heart that we want, but at the end of the day, it usually gets its way.”
“Also, grief is mercurial: it can live underground for a long time quietly before it rises up and has its day,” she continued. “It’s nonlinear too, and just because you’re feeling better today doesn’t mean that tomorrow you’ll be able to breathe.”
Things become extra complicated when Robin meets Sam (played by David Walton). “Grief can also live comfortably alongside desire, joy and excitement,” Callies teased. “There’s no way to know that until you’re in it…and Robin certainly doesn’t see Sam coming. But what’s there to do but ride the wave when things come at you? Robin hasn’t had a chance to think straight in over a year. She’s not going to be able to get ahead of this thing with her mind.”
Ahead of the duo’s meeting in the Thursday, May 14 hour, watch an exclusive clip of Robin trying to come to terms with her feelings…
