The CW Boss on the Importance of Wrapping Up SUPERNATURAL’s Final Episodes
May 14, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
With SUPERNATURAL’s final season still yet to properly wrap up, The CW is hoping the show will be able to conclude its run this fall.
“We already have five episodes in the can of SUPERNATURAL,” The CW boss Mark Pedowitz told reporters. “[Stars] Jared [Padalecki] and Jensen [Ackles] will go back as soon as we’re able to finish up the last two episodes, and then [Padalecki] will go off to work on WALKER. The two studios are in constant communication to make sure that this is a seamless handoff.”
But with so much in flux in the world, Pedowitz also acknowledged the plan could change if production isn’t safe to resume. “Certainty is a hard thing to do in this world right now, where, again, there is pragmatics to it,” he said. “We hope that they will be able to start shooting sometime late summer, early fall. If not, we become very flexible and rearrange our schedule.”
At the end of the day, the most important thing is wrapping up the story correctly versus just getting it over with.
“I think everybody—[The CW,] the studio, the executive producers, Jared, Jensen, and Misha—all want to end 15 years the right way,” Pedowitz said. “It is important that these two episodes that they will be shooting [are] done the way that they had hoped to do it. And we’ll just wait it out. We are very much attached to this.”
