May 29, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
Apple TV+’s TED LASSO series will debut on Friday, August 14, the streamer announced. The platform also released a first look at the series (above).
In the series, “Jason Sudeikis plays Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer.”
The series was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly, Brendan Hunt. It is based on pre-existing format/characters from NBC Sports. The rest of the cast is still to be announced.
Though Sudeikis has done voice over work and guest spots, this will mark his first live-action full-time gig since he left SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE in 2013.
