The Simpsons voiceover change

THE SIMPSONS: Homer and Marge compete to be the topic of Lisa’s “Most Interesting Person I Know” essay. Lisa instead chooses Professor Frink. While Lisa works on the essay, Frink develops a cryptocurrency, overtaking Mr. Burns’ title of richest man in Springfield. With new fame, Frink struggles to know who his real friends are, while Mr. Burns schemes to take his title back in the “Frinkcoin” episode of THE SIMPSONS airing Sunday, Feb 23 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. THE SIMPSONS will be casting racially appropriate voice actors in the future.

“Moving forward, THE SIMPSONS will no longer have white actors voice non-white characters,” the show said in a statement.

Currently, the show has characters of color including Dr. Hibbert (voiced by Harry Shearer), as well as Hank Azaria’s Carl Carlson and Bumblebee Man.

Previously, the show had been under fire for Azaria’s voicing of Apu. Apu has largely been off the show the past few years—with no voice being provided if he shows up in the back of a scene—as the show decided how to move forward.

The news comes just after FAMILY GUY Mike Henry stepped down from playing his most famous character Cleveland Brown. Additionally, Kristen Bell will no longer play Molly on Apple TV+’s CENTRAL PARK, and Jenny Slate will no longer play Missy on BIG MOUTH.
