About Last Night…GAME ON! and AGENTS OF SHIELD
July 23, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!
GAME ON!: Given that was the season finale, I was kind of disappointed by the episode? There certainly were better episodes throughout the first season, and it even felt smaller in scope.
I’m curious if the show will come back and what it will look like if it does. It feels like there’s potential here, but I don’t know if it reached the entirety of it in season 1.
AGENTS OF SHIELD: First of all, it’s absolutely bonkers that this was Elizabeth Henstridge‘s directorial debut. This season has not been easy, in terms of each episode feeling so different, but a time loop episode is especially tough!
Emotionally, I’m a little destroyed. Enoch sacrificing himself was beautiful, even if he absolutely deserved better. Coulson lamenting that he’d have to go on to watch everyone he loves die? Ugggggh, that’s rough. But, hey, on a nicer note, Daisy and Sousa! Both deserve some happiness. (Which means it’s going to end with one of them dying, right?)
It’s not really a surprise this is the team’s last mission since the show is so close to being over, but I do hope it’s for good reasons. Well, as good as possible. Obviously it can’t parallel AVENGERS: ENDGAME, but…there could be a lot of parallels there? Let them split into smaller teams to save the day, with hopefully minimal deaths on the horizon.
But despite the heartbreak, definitely one of my favorite episodes of the season/series.
