Though Comic-Con has found a way to go on, remotely, after its cancellation, one thing can’t really be replicated with virtual panels: the off-site activations.
In years past, networks and studios have gone all out, with pop-up WESTWORLD experiences, the bonkers SLEEPY HOLLOW virtual reality experience, NBC recreating THE GOOD PLACE’s neighborhood and SUPERSTORE’s Cloud 9, FX’s arena, and so much more.
Since there won’t be any delightfully bonkers off-site activations this year, we’re looking back at some of the memorable ones from the past few years… Read more

Comments Off on SONGLAND Boss on the Success of ‘Champagne Night’ and Why They Opted to Not Digitally Release Season 2 Runner-Up Songs
SONGLAND’s first season boasted a number of success stories—digital number #1s; John Legend, already in the NBC family, partnered with the network for a memorable campaign using his winning song; a tune was specifically designed for a FAST & THE FURIOUS film; The Black Eyed Peas took all of the final songs for the will.i.am episode (though they didn’t appear on the group’s recent Latin album, a source notes the songs will appear on an upcoming BEP release); and THE VOICE got a new coach out of the Jonas Brothers’ episode—the season 2 decision by country group Lady A to take their chosen song, “Champagne Night,” to radio changed things for the show.

Comments Off on THE ROOKIE: Ali Larter is Open to a Season 3 Return
When THE ROOKIE ended its sophomore season, Nolan (Nathan Fillion) was hit with a double whammy: he was set up so it looked like he was a dirty cop, and his rekindled relationship with Grace (Ali Larter) came to an end when she decided to give her marriage another chance for the sake of her kid.
“Nolan and Grace, she closed the door on him,” THE ROOKIE showrunner Alexi Hawley said after the finale aired. “Does he give up on that? And if she decides that she wants to change [her mind]—which I’m not saying she will, but just as an idea—can they come back from this? Or is it over? I don’t know the answer to that, honestly, right now, but there’s a lot of potential there.”
With production still primarily shut down—and Los Angeles at risk for shutting down entirely—Larter admits whether she returns to THE ROOKIE for its third season is “deeply up in the air.”

Sports may or may not be happening this summer, but Netflix has a bubble-proof plan: the new animated series HOOPS.
According to Netflix, HOOPS “is an animated comedy sitcom that centers on a hot-headed, foul-mouthed high school basketball coach (Jake Johnson) who thinks turning around his god awful team will take him to the “big leagues” and turn his miserable life around.”
The series will debut on Friday, August 21.

“Save the cheerleader, save the world.”
In 2006, it was nearly impossible to be a fan of television and not know HEROES. The sci-fi drama about ordinary people discovering they had extraordinary abilities was arguably the biggest show of the year, as fans obsessed over whether the rag-tag group of new heroes could defeat supervillain Sylar (Zachary Quinto).
Now, new—and old—fans can experience it again, as the four seasons of the original series are streaming on Peacock. (2015 revival HEROES REBORN isn’t currently included.)
“It was one of the best pilots I’ve ever read,” Ali Larter, who portrayed Niki, Jessica, and Tracy, recalls. “Tim Kring wrote it, and when we came together, David Semel, who was our director, had an extraordinary vision for that show. When I think about all all the pieces it takes to really come together and make something that is so special, and connect with an audience the way that it did, I just feel really proud and grateful.”
Here, Larter looks back at her time on the show, and reflects on why it may be the best binge watch for 2020… Read more

BOB’S BURGERS may be a delightful animated family comedy, but the backdrop of the series is their restaurant. And while the show has had a lot of fun with it (including producing a real-life cookbook), it also means that while new episodes are on their way—animation is one of the only genres of TV to not shut down during the pandemic—things are going to be a little bit odd when they’re in a normally operating restaurant.
But to help tide us over until the show returns, Fox released a little BOB’S BURGERS short of how the Belchers might react during quarantine. And, well, it’s going about as well as you might expect for the kids… Read more
