August 4, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
Netflix has ordered KINGS OF AMERICA, a new limited series starring Amy Adams, who will also executive produce the show.
According to the streaming platform, KINGS OF AMERICA “centers on the stories of three powerful women whose lives were inextricably intertwined with the world’s largest company: a Walmart heiress, a maverick executive, and a longtime Walmart saleswoman and preacher who dared to fight against the retail giant in the biggest class action lawsuit in US history.”
Adam McKay has signed on to direct the first episode and will also executive produce the series along with Betsy Koch via Hyperobject Industries. This marks a reunion for McKay and Adams, who worked together on the Oscar-nominated film VICE, which also scored a Best Supporting Actress nod for Adams. Diana Son will showrun the series, while Jess Kimball Leslie created the drama.
