THE BOYS’ Eric Kripke on Bringing in His Former TIMELESS Stars to Season 2
August 6, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
Eric Kripke has consistently brought in actors from his previous projects (including SUPERNATURAL, REVOLUTION, and TIMELESS) to his new shows, and the upcoming season of THE BOYS is no different.
In the sophomore season of the Amazon series, TIMELESS’ Claudia Doumit, Goran Visnijc, and Malcolm Barrett are recurring, but Kripke acknowledged whether he wrote characters specifically for his former colleagues or brought them in after the fact did vary per role.
“Sometimes, we would have a character like Malcolm Barrett’s character, who was funny and we knew we needed someone hilarious like Malcolm to play him,” Kripke told reporters during a CTAM press conference for the series.
For a season 2 cult leader, “as we were breaking him in the writers’ room, I definitely felt like Goran Visnijc would be the perfect combo of dashing and a little unsettling to play that guy,” Kripke says. “So we wrote that one for Goran. It depends on the character.”
And while the show has been renewed for a third season, the cast is still waiting to get back to work. To that end, the cast filmed a PSA noting the importance of wearing a mask in the real world…
