THE FLASH Cast, EP Tease Season 7, Iris Post-Mirrorverse
August 22, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
THE FLASH’s Iris (Candice Patton) spent much of the second half of season 6 trapped in the Mirrorverse—while her double lived out her life in the real world–but when the show returns in 2021, she’ll be fighting her way home.
But how will the time away impact her? “It’ll be interesting to see when she comes out, and I believe she will come out very soon when we pick up season 7…how she’s been affected by being kind of stuck in this maddening world with this super villain,” Patton teased during the show’s DC FanDome panel.
Barry (Grant Gustin) finally being aware his wife is in trouble is exactly why Gustin is sure his character isn’t relishing any aspect of his power rapidly declining.
“He really just misses it,” Gustin said. “Especially with Iris being trapped in the Mirrorverse at the moment and then Eva being a factor. I don’t think any part of him has been like, ‘Well, I guess I’ll just enjoy this downtime while I can.’ I think he genuinely not [only] wants his powers back, but he feels he needs them back. And he’s also started to feel that they define him, and what is he without them?”
Looking ahead, showrunner Eric Wallace confirmed that Godspeed would be a major foe in season 7.
“I want to make sure that new fans, especially new young fans who are reading the comic book right now, are welcomed to the show,” Wallace said. “So it’s not just Silver Age villains and Bronze Age villains. There might be a young girl or a young boy who is reading those Flash comics right now and and going where’s my generation’s villain?”
Godspeed was included in the first season 7 trailer, which was comprised of footage for what was intended to the the 20th episode of season 6.
“[It will] now will become partially the first episode of season 7,” Wallace said. “So we did have 85% of the footage that were were able to use, plus, we knew where we were going already in season 7. So, even though it’s only footage really from one episode, pay attention to the way it’s presented. It’s actually huge spoilers, all over the place.”
