Apple TV+ Orders Adaptation of Keira Knightley-Led THE ESSEX SERPENT

Apple TV+ has ordered an adaptation of Sarah Perry’s 2016 book THE ESSEX SERPENT to series, the streaming platform announced. Keira Knightley has signed on to star and executive produce the series. (Knightley is also set to soon star/produce in the limited Hulu series THE OTHER TYPIST.)
The series “follows newly widowed Cora (Knightley) who, having being released from an abusive marriage, relocates from Victorian London to the small village of Aldwinter in Essex, intrigued by a local superstition that a mythical creature known as the Essex Serpent has returned to the area.”
THE ESSEX SERPENT will be penned by Anna Symon, while Clio Barnard has signed on to direct. Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman has signed on to executive produce, while Andrea Cornwell will produce.
