About Last Night…LOVE ISLAND

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!
LOVE ISLAND: Man, I missed this weird show.
Unlike last season, where a number of couples took a figurative leap for each other when they first met, this time it was so awkward as so few girls stepped forward. (Do I blame them? No. But was it awkward waiting to see if it was dramatic reality television editing or people really weren’t stepping forward? Oh boy, yes.)
It was really adorable how fast Moira and James clicked. They had big Zac and Elizabeth vibes from the start…it was so precious. Mackenzie and Connor also feel like they have a lot of potential, too.
I remain fascinated by how they’re doing this in Vegas, though. Transforming the roof to a replica of last season’s villa was incredible—there’s obviously not as much space, but it’s pretty spot-on—but I kept cringing at the thought of the heat. Vegas in August is miserable. I wonder how much they’ll be outside vs. trying to take refuge inside by the end of the season.
(I’m also curious how the show is handling its contestant pool for season 2. Due to quarantine restrictions—which they would need to be strict on, rather than risk the show, which is set to run six nights a week, fall completely off the tracks—you’d think they would have everyone they hope to bring in there already, but how many extras do they have? And if they do have extra people, and they don’t use them, would they be first in line for a potential season 3?)
