About Last Night…THE SIMPSONS, BLACK-ISH, FAMILY GUY, and More
October 5, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!
THE SIMPSONS: I’m hit/miss on episodes that take almost entirely away from Springfield—excluding things like Treehouse of Horror—and this one was definitely not near the top of my list. This had a similar feel to “The Serfsons,” which felt like it might have been an interesting Treehouse installment if they edited it down. Oh well.
BLACK-ISH: I was really impressed by the animation in the second part of the special. I hope it encouraged people to check their registration/go out and vote, but…I honestly don’t know. It felt a lot like a PSA, so I don’t know if people who hadn’t taken that step would have stuck around to watch, especially the first part.
BOB’S BURGERS: Look, if the Belchers had to go through a pandemic, at least it was…that. Poor Linda, just wanted to get a little culture for her family.
FAMILY GUY: I actually appreciated how simple this episode was at its core: Stewie found out that Rupert used to belong to Chris. It makes sense, as did Stewie’s absolute spiral at the news. (It is crazy the show hasn’t done THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY before? Can that really be true?! It feels primed for Stewie.)
