AMERICAN IDOL Gets a New Set for Season 4
October 7, 2020 by Marisa Roffman
After holding virtual auditions for AMERICAN IDOL’s pre-judges round, judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, plus host Ryan Seacrest reunited for in-person auditions, with a modified set.
AMERICAN IDOL completed its third season on ABC remotely, when COVID-19 shut down in-person production. The show managed to get through the Hawaiian showcase, before the top 20 had to film their performances from home; Just Sam won the unusual season.
“Katy, Lionel and Luke are fun, astute and really know how to spot talent,” showrunner Trish Kinane said when it was announced the quartet were returning for season 4. “Their chemistry is undeniable, and we are delighted that they, along with host Ryan Seacrest, are returning to find the next superstar and take AMERICAN IDOL to new heights next season.”
