LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME Teaser: Stabler Addresses His Decade-Long Absence

NBC released the first footage of Elliot Stabler’s (Christopher Meloni) return to the LAW & ORDER universe during the airing of the Thursday, February 18 episode of LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT, “Hunt, Trap, Rape, and Release.”

In the teaser, Stabler is talking to someone about his absence. “So much time has passed, and you can’t reach out,” he said in the video to an unknown person. “Days turn into months turn into years. I just kept waiting for the right moment.”

Stabler is leading the new L&O spinoff, as he “returns to the NYPD to battle organized crime after a devastating personal loss. Stabler will aim to rebuild his life as part of a new elite task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful criminal syndicates one by one.” But before he leads up his own show, he’ll reunite with his former longtime partner, Benson (Mariska Hargitay)—who is now leading his former unit—on the Thursday, April 1 episode of SVU. (Hargitay will also be appearing on ORGANIZED CRIME’s debut.)

Though NBC is keeping most details about ORGANIZED CRIME close to the vest, the series also stars Dylan McDermott, Tamara Taylor, and Danielle Moné Truitt. Ilene Chaiken is showrunning the new show.
