SUPERSTORE: ‘Deep Cleaning’ Photos
March 3, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
Nearly a year into the the COVID-19 lockdown, SUPERSTORE is finding a unique way to celebrate everything we’ve missed.
“We have found a way to do a holiday episode, even though it’s not at a holiday time of year,” co-showrunner Jonathan Green previously teased. “We found a way to combine multiple holidays into one episode, because we were really feeling that, too. We were disappointed we didn’t get to do a Halloween episode this year.”

NBC’s take on “Deep Cleaning”: “On the day of Store 1217’s first deep cleaning since the pandemic began, Glenn ropes Garrett into throwing a party to cheer up the employees. Dina needs Cheyenne’s guidance when her ability to run the store is compromised, and Jonah tries to help Mateo impress Amy and Eric’s parents.”
“We weren’t able to do the Halloween episode…so this is an episode for the fans,” Dunn previews. “I may or may not look a little bit like Uncle Sam.”
“Obviously, this is something that’s near and dear to a lot of people given the current dumpster fire that we’re all living, which is the holidays for the past almost full year now…the holidays haven’t looked the way we’re used to them looking,” Ash adds. “And so I love the concept that they kind of went with here, because it’s been such a bummer. And especially since we are portraying essential workers, essential workers—in the best of times—have to work through holidays, miss holidays, schedule their holidays around their work schedules and stuff like that. And now there’s the pandemic, and what that has put upon essential workers and our Cloud 9 employees, in general, is they didn’t get to celebrate anything. So I think it’s a really fun idea: to blow off some steam, let’s celebrate everything, all at once. We’ll cram it all in, we’ll do it real quick, and we’ll touch on absolutely everything that we’ve missed over the past year. And inspired—I feel like I want to do this in my real life!”
