About Last Night…GRAMMYs, THE SIMPSONS, AMERICAN IDOL, and More
March 15, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!
GRAMMYS: We’ve seen so many award shows through this pandemic lens, but the Grammys may have been the only one done well? Really great performances, staging, and the bulk of the awards being done in small groups, outside, at least felt safer than almost everything else. (And hell yes to Beyonce and Taylor Swift breaking records last night.)
THE SIMPSONS: I love J.J. Abrams and virtually all of his work so much, but it was a very, very odd inclusion into this story? (Though the SIMPSONS-ized version of the Bad Robot logo was freaking precious.) Outside of that, a cute episode that made me a bit nostalgic for Chuck E. Cheese.
AMERICAN IDOL: Okay, but wait, I kind of want Zachary D’Onofrio and Catie Turner to form a duo? They did sound better together. But there were a bunch of good auditions. Nothing earth-shattering, but a good mix and a lot of promise.
THE GREAT NORTH: I feel bad for Judy, but Ham accidentally being the one to get a love story was so freaking precious. I’m glad she eventually realized it and gave her brother the go-ahead to have his perfect night.
BOB’S BURGERS: What the heck are those fancy crackers?! A cute episode, probably the one I’ve enjoyed the most this calendar year.
FAMILY GUY: Sometimes it’s easier to forget Disney owns FAMILY GUY, too, but in case you forgot, tonight’s opening was here to remind you with that MUPPET SHOW number.
