About Last Night…THE SIMPSONS, AMERICAN IDOL, THE GREAT NORTH, and More

Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!
THE SIMPSONS: I deeply love this show, but I was a bit disappointed by the 700th episode. Look, symbolically, it was lovely that it was a Christmas episode given the first episode was also one. But it didn’t feel like this was a strong enough story to justify putting an episode like that now? (The best part was the “Steamed Hams” and “Baby Jeebus” shoutouts on the holiday cards at the end credits.)
AMERICAN IDOL: Willie Spence was a clear highlight. I know it likely wasn’t faster than normal, but the genre challenge felt maaaaaajorly rushed through. Even after watching two hours, so few actually made an impression…at least for good reasons. (Sorry Erika Perry, that was a terrifying meltdown.)
THE GREAT NORTH: Okay, how did this episode make it to air? Don’t get me wrong: it was hilarious and I actually loved it. But Standards and Practices are so uptight about anything related to the female body, so I cannot imagine the things that had to be tweaked to Judy’s art protest storyline to make it okay to make it to air.
BOB’S BURGERS: Oh, God, Linda, noooooooo. I felt so bad for her, but also oh my God, nope.
