About Last Night…AMERICAN IDOL, THE VOICE, and DEBRIS
April 20, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!
AMERICAN IDOL: This was an odd show. There were great performances, but it’s odd to have someone who placed in second last season competing against other finalists. And ten people for one slot? That’s SO much competition and so hard. In some ways, I wish it had been a lot more focused…3-5 contestants competing for one slot. But, man, Makayla Phillips’ “Anyone” was just stunning.
THE VOICE: Okay, Snoop Dogg was SO fun?? I wasn’t sure how he would fit as a Mega Mentor (especially with Blake), but he was absolutely a natural.
I’m so bummed Ciana Pelekai was cut, though, because I thought she was actually one of the better performances of the night..
DEBRIS: Oh, God, poor Finola. I’m so glad she has her father back, but that reanimation process sounds a) like FRINGE and b) absolutely awful. What kind of man is her father now? And can…anyone be trusted beyond Bryan and Finola? It really feels like them vs. the world in a truly scary, isolating way. Especially now that it seems like they may have burned their bridges with their agencies.
