Henry (Ethan Cutkosky) returned on the Thursday, May 20 episode of LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT and unleashed terror on his family and the people around him—but that might not be the end of his tale.

After tricking the doctors at the institution he was living in into believing that he was recovered and safe to be back in society, Henry first took revenge on the daughter of a former therapist, before targeting Rollins’ (Kelli Giddish) daughter with a Snowball lookalike stuffed dog.

But as the team was working the case—and realizing that Henry might be out—the young man took out his father, stepmother, and half-brother…with his sister as his next target.

The team eventually tracked Henry and Ruby (Maxine Wanderer) down to an amusement park, and Rollins convinced him to talk one-on-one about what went down. The duo talked about their last encounter, and she convinced him to turn himself in so he didn’t wind up dead.

“Wherever Henry ends up, they need to throw away the key,” Rollins told Olivia (Mariska Hargitay).

But the question then became if Henry was competent to stand trial—and Dr. Lindstrom (Bill Irwin) said he was. Henry snapped, and attacked Carisi (Peter Scanavino). With that, Rollins threatened that if he got out and came after anyone she loved, she’d kill him herself.

So…is Henry going to return?

“Well, I learned my lesson with William Lewis,” SVU boss Warren Leight says with a laugh. “These guys are pretty interesting. If it ends here, it’s a good place to end. And if it had ended where it ended eight years ago, it would have been a good end.”

“It’s a pretty interesting character,” he allows. “And the odds are LAW & ORDER will be on eight years from now. When it was time to go, Pablo [Schreiber, who played Lewis] said, ‘I’ll come back for one more episode, but I have to die in the end and I’m going to choose how I die.’ And I was like, ‘Okay.’ We haven’t gotten to that point yet with Ethan and Henry.”
