About Last Night…MANIFEST and REBEL
June 11, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Thursday night’s TV!MANIFEST: I don’t want to believe the Grace twist, but it also feels like pure denial on my part given she was stabbed in the chest. And we saw an Older Cal?! It’s also really extra sad, if everything sticks, given how little the family got to be together this season.
The Mick and Jared scene was messy as hell. I get Zeke was supposed to be dead at this point, but that’s not the time to bring it up!
It’s a weird place to be, because if the show is over—and it hasn’t been renewed yet—it’s absolutely not a finale that works as a series closer. Obviously bubble shows aren’t required to wrap things up, or even have quasi-acceptable finales, but this feels like one of the endings that would be pretty frustrating if NBC doesn’t renew it.
REBEL: Meanwhile, REBEL had an incredible ending and I’m both relieved and sad they were able to wrap things up so cleanly. Yeah, there was absolutely the promise of what could have been, but there wasn’t a massive cliffhanger making us wonder the resolution to the case or something super major.
But, man, I hate we’re losing this show. I loved their weird, tumultuous family. It was a joy to watch this show this season, and despite the short time we had with it, it’s going to be one of the canceled shows I miss the most.
