LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION: Noah Wyle Previews the Team’s New ‘Utility Player’

In the new LEVERAGE revival, LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION, a new character enters the team’s orbit: Harry Wilson (Noah Wyle), a lawyer who has realized, belatedly, how much damage he has helped facilitate against helpless people.

“The character was pitched to me as kind of a Michael Clayton-type high corporate lawyer/fixer type,” Wyle explains in the video below. “A guy whose client list is a whole laundry list of all the bad guys in today’s society, but never really focused on the fact that he was doing any kind of harm. He was focused on his own expertise as a lawyer, and in the precision of his own work.”

“And then, suddenly, he just can’t deny that he’s somewhat responsible for these atrocities that are taking place,” he continues. “It’s a real crossroads in his life. In an attempt to try and bring the karmic scales back into balance, he’s looking to atone for his past, and he finds this group of people that show him exactly how to do that. His Rolodex becomes the beginning place for his road to redemption to begin and to try and undo some of the things that he was responsible for.”

Wyle—who spent years on THE LIBRARIANS with LEVERAGE co-creator John Rogers, EP Dean Devlin, and co-star Christian Kane—acknowledges he “had some say here and there” about his character’s development, but his priority was how Harry would fit into the team.

“A character like Harry is a Swiss Army knife: he needs to be occasionally this and occasionally that,” Wyle explains. “When we want to see this about Sophie or we learn that about Eliot, he can be malleable that way. My input was in trying to keep him flexible enough so he could be a utility player and be used any which way you need him to for the best storytelling.”
