DEXTER: Jennifer Carpenter Returning for Revival
July 13, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
Jennifer Carpenter, who starred in eight seasons of the Showtime drama, will return for the revival, according to multiple reports. (A rep for Showtime had no comment.)
Carpenter’s Deb—spoiler alert—perished in the original series finale, though DEXTER has frequently played with memories and hallucinations as part of its storytelling device.
In fact, former DEXTER guest star John Lithgow (whose Trinity Killer was one of the show’s most notorious villains—and died in season 4), who is also returning for the limited series, was the one to first reveal Carpenter would return.
“As all DEXTER fans know, we saw the end of the Trinity Killer, so that by definition means it’s a flashback,” Lithgow told Deadline. “It was just wonderful to rejoin that gang—including [series star] Michael [C. Hall] and Jennifer Carpenter and [showrunner] Clyde Phillips.”
The DEXTER revival is reportedly set to debut this fall.
