REBEL Fails to Find a New Home
August 16, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
A month after IMDb TV started streaming the first season of ABC’s canceled REBEL—with the possibility to see if the show could be revived—the series is officially dead, creator Krista Vernoff says.
“Thank you to the wonderful fans behind the #SaveRebel campaign,” she wrote on Instagram. “You fought so hard and we so appreciated your passion!! We are proud of the show that we made and we are grateful that it had an impact on you. Sadly, we have learned that there will not be a Season 2. But we truly hope that Rebel continues to inspire you to fight the good fight in your communities and in your lives!”
The series starred Katey Sagal as Annie “Rebel” Bello, “a blue-collar legal advocate without a law degree. She’s a funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.” The series also starred John Corbett as Grady Bello, James Lesure as Benji, Lex Scott Davis as Cassidy, Tamala Jones as Lana, Ariela Barer as Ziggy, Kevin Zegers as Nate, Sam Palladio as Luke and Andy Garcia as Cruz. Other recurring cast members include Abigail Spencer, Mary McDonnell, Dan Bucatinsky, Adam Arkin, Mo McRae, and Daniella Garcia. (The show was inspired by the life of Erin Brockovich.)
