LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT Promotes Octavio Pisano
October 13, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
The LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT squad is officially growing: Octavio Pisano has been made a series regular.
Pisano debuted as Detective Joe Velasco in the season 23 premiere, initially working undercover—at the behest of Chief McGrath (Terry Serpico)—before being assigned to the squad. Though the team has been a bit skeptical about his trustworthiness given McGrath’s open disdain for the unit, Velasco has made it a point to show he’s willing to learn. (And try to get on his colleagues’ good side with donuts.)
The actor previously appeared in the limited series COYOTE, as well in the unaired pilot for the NEW YORK UNDERCOVER reboot. (SVU creator Dick Wolf also EPed NYU.)
The SVU season 23 cast also includes Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, Kelli Giddish, and Peter Scanavino. (Jamie Gray Hyder and Demore Barnes exited the long-running drama in the two-hour season 23 premiere block.)
SVU is also set to celebrate its 500th episode on Thursday, October 21.
Are you excited to see more of Detective Velasco?
