LAW & ORDER Adds Jeffrey Donovan
November 1, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
The upcoming LAW & ORDER revival has officially added the first member to its cast: Jeffrey Donovan.
Though details of the revival are being kept quiet, Donovan—whose TV credits include a seven season run on BURN NOTICE, as well as FARGO, SHUT EYE, and CROSSING JORDAN—will play an NYPD detective on the procedural’s 21st season.
Donovan has history with LAW & ORDER, previously guest starring (as different characters) in episodes that aired in 1995 and 2007.
LAW & ORDER originally debuted in 1990 and ran until 2010, when it was canceled unexpectedly at season 20…on the cusp of breaking the then-record for a live-action series. (Since then, L&O spinoff SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT has surpassed its run, currently airing season 23.)
“There are very few things in life that are literally dreams come true,” said creator Dick Wolf in a statement when the revival news was announced. “This is mine.”
The new series will be showrun by Rick Eid, who also runs FBI.
