About Last Night…THE VOICE, THE BIG LEAP, and ORDINARY JOE

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: Paris Winningham was a really good steal for Team Blake. I’m a sucker for “Falling Slowly” and wish Xavier Cornell had moved on, but alas.

THE BIG LEAP: Every “reality show” should have a dance-off, now, whether it makes sense or not; I don’t make the rules. I’m glad Gabby got her win, even if it ended up being short-lived.

But, ugh, my heart was absolutely aching for Paula. Her day of distraction with Julia was beautiful, until it was too much, and then Julia took over to try and take care of her. It was beautifully acted by Piper Perabo and Teri Polo, and I really hope we get more of them in the future. (Under less tragic circumstances, please.)

ORDINARY JOE: I know it’s not the easiest to have an episode set so far in the past (because they’re using the same actors), but it was a great hour to see a little bit more about the immediate fallout of Joe’s decision. Honestly, it was told so well, I didn’t even think about the fact we ended last episode on a pretty sizable cliffhanger until the promo for the next hour, which is (truly) a huge compliment. Normally, an episode like this would feel like filler and it didn’t.
