GHOSTS: Danielle Pinnock Previews Alberta’s Encounter with a Superfan
December 2, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) get an unexpected visitor at the house on the Thursday, December 9 episode of GHOSTS: Todd (Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll), who happens to be an Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) superfan.
“Well, we finally get to dive into our delicious diva, a little bit of her story, which I’m so thrilled about,” Pinnock says with a laugh. “I felt like the [other] ghosts have been gaslighting our girl Alberta into believing that she wasn’t murdered….[it’s] the biggest mystery of the season: was sis murdered or not?”
Todd “is a historian who knows all things Alberta,” she continues. “So we’ll get a little taste to find out who she was. I’m really excited for audiences to see how fun, weird, and twisted that episode gets.”
When she says “weird and twisted”…she’s not underselling what goes down in “Alberta’s Fan.”
“It gets a little odd. It’s not quite FATAL ATTRACTION, but it’s a broadcast version of it,” she says with a laugh. “[Todd] does go a little bit off the deep end and that’s probably all I can tease. But he’s a true fan through and through, that’s for certain.”
And GHOSTS isn’t the only delightful thing Pinnock is a part of this week: The performer posted a perfect take on what the CBS comedy’s opening credits might have looked like if the show aired in the ’90s.

“It’s funny, because it was a trend that was happening on Tik Tok for a hot minute,” Pinnock says. “And then our dear Sheila Carrasco, who is my home girl who plays Flower, was like, ‘Oh, we should do this in some way.’ And I was like, ‘I think I’m going to do it for when Alberta’s fan episode airs.'”
“This has been like a really, really weird year for me, social media-wise,” she continues. “This is the first time that I want to put myself out there. I’ve been doing stuff with my co-creator for a project called @hashtagbooked, which has gone viral many times online, about Black actresses’ struggles and joys in the entertainment industry. And we found a lot of love for that page. But this is my first time kind of going out on my own.”
After doing a video playing the characters in Netflix’s BRIDGERTON earlier in the year, Pinnock knew she could embody her colleagues.
“And let me tell you, our group chat is bustling right now,” she says with laugh. “Oh my God! Richie Moriarty was like, ‘Are those kabob skewers as my arrows?!’ Everybody’s laughing and so many people have been showing so much love, so I’m glad that everyone loves it. And obviously I cleared it with Román Zaragoza, who plays Sasappis, as well Utkarsh Ambudkar; I was like, ‘This is what I’m going to do, because we’re not going to get canceled, okay?’ And they were like, ‘This is so funny!’ So I was like, ‘Okay, great.’ I’m so glad that people are interacting with it, and they find it so funny.”
