About Last Night…THE VOICE and THE BIG LEAP

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: It was a fun Top 8. I’m worried about the cut to get in the finals, because percentage wise, this is harshest cut we’ll have in these lives…which means we’re ripe for an upset.

[Here’s what the contestants had to say about their duets.]

THE BIG LEAP: The logical part of me is skeptical the show will return, but, man, I hope they find a way to make a second season.

In some ways, this finale reminded me of the (unfairly) short-lived REBEL, in the sense the first season felt like a complete story, but there was absolutely room to continue on. It’s a lot kinder to have shows that end that way versus a cliffhanger that might never be resolved.

And, sure, there are open-ended elements here. Brit is pregnant with Reggie’s baby, which he and Gabby don’t know. But Nick knows that, which means there will be drama if the show returns.

But, ugh, I loved the episode. The meta comments about the renewal and the ratings made me laugh. I love they ended things with a messy group dance. It just made me happy. No matter what the future brings, I’m thankful we got these 11 episodes with the show.
