About Last Night…CHICAGO MED, CHICAGO FIRE, and CHICAGO P.D.

Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!
CHICAGO MED: Okay, well, on the bright side, next year’s Christmas party has to be a step up, because once a gaggle of people get arrested, it can only go up, right? On a less tragic note (hopefully), I’m curious how Vanessa outing herself as Maggie’s biological daughter plays out. But, um, maybe she should have warned her?
I did love the VR device that allowed Archer to better understand what living with a mental health disorder looks like. I’m glad the show also allowed us to experience a bit of it, as well.
CHICAGO FIRE: So, uh, what’s going on with Kidd? Her greeting to Severide was kind of terrifying, because…they had been apart so long and she had just been silent about something sizable. I hope they can get through whatever this bump is.
I’m happy for Brett that her paramedicine program got its funding—she needed a win. (But, oh my God, how did Ritter not write the recipe down for the beer?!)

CHICAGO P.D.: I’m shocked they wrapped up the Halstead/Voight/Upton/North mess so fast. (Not upset, just shocked.) I am not surprised, really, Halstead ended up going to Voight–in hindsight, it makes sense, because they get out of messes frequently—but I am also surprised it seems Halstead is now looking for their dynamic to change to stop them from getting in this position in the future. I hope it works.
The sequence where Upton and Halstead got married and, as Jesse Lee Soffer put it, consummated it was absolutely gorgeous. And maybe that’s a weird way to phrase it, but the focus on their rings intercut with them actually getting married was stunning, and I’ve been thinking about the incredible choices since I watched the hour. (It was also fascinating to hear it was originally set to be separate; I’m glad they cut the two sequences together.) I really hope Upstead can make things work.
