CHICAGO P.D.: Tracy Spiridakos and Jesse Lee Soffer Break Down Upstead’s Big Decision

[Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Wednesday, December 8 episode of CHICAGO P.D.]
Holy matrimony—CHICAGO P.D.’s Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) got hitched!
Though the duo were officially engaged, the actual marriage still came as a shock: The duo just barely escaped North’s clutches—who wanted Halstead to turn in Voight (Jason Beghe), or Halstead and Upton would go down for Roy’s death; Halstead and Voight flipped the tables by threatening North with his own shady dealings with his brother—and opted to just elope.
“I found out—it’s still up for debate when Jesse found out…like two days before we started the episode,” Spiridakos says in the video below. “And my reaction was, ‘What? Already?!'”
“I think I found out probably a couple days before we started shooting when the script came out,” Soffer adds. “We were like, ‘Oh. Okay, got it!'”
Despite the unconventional start, “I did think it was a really great way to make this marriage happen,” Spiridakos says. “We knew the proposal had happened last season. And I was always curious as to what would happen and how they would get married or would they get married and what would happen there… I think it’s really true to each of their characters that it was just spur of the moment and they wanted this to be a thing for them without anybody else.”
Adds Soffer, “It was also a way to like not let the whole Roy storyline and the North storyline ruin what they had. You know, it’s like, ‘Okay, we got past this stuff. We actually made it out alive. And we’re still together. We’re doing this.’ It was like a logical next step.”
Because the duo got hitched in secret, next up is their colleagues at Intelligence finding out what they missed.
“We don’t tell anyone,” Spiridakos says. “They just see us wearing rings.”
“I think the next episode picks up the morning after, and we’re wearing the rubber rings,” Soffer adds. “The team is like, ‘What? What is that? Are you guys married?’ And we’re like, ‘Yeah. Anyway. Moving on.’…I buy it for those characters….I don’t know that they’re big party people.”
But does Halstead’s brother, CHICAGO MED’s Will even know? “Will might not know yet,” Soffer acknowledges. “I’m not sure actually. Things have been rough between the two of them.”

Great…now can we get a real love interest for Kevin and not this storyline that he has to hide he is a cop?
I think it’s crappy, All they do is committed murder and get away with it, there nothing honest about them.
