GRAND CREW, FBI, FBI: MOST WANTED

“Unfinished Business” – After Rina is critically wounded while heading to work with Jubal, the team makes the chilling discovery that a vengeful Vargas (David Zayas) orchestrated the shooting from behind bars and continues to target the rest of their team and their loved ones, on the CBS Original series FBI, Tuesday, Dec. 14 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*.

Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

GRAND CREW: This was charming! Much like AMERICAN AUTO the night before, I liked the pilot, but episode 2 felt like a lot more pieces clicked into place. Noah being a hopeless romantic who was convinced he was about to get his perfect meet-cute was adorable. (It actually being the ideal match for Nicky just made the situation even more hilarious.) As basic as it is, it feels like we don’t get a lot of comedy/friend group shows where siblings actually get to act like siblings regularly, so it was nice to see Nicky and Noah actually feel like they were brother-sister. Looking forward to seeing what they do next!

FBI: Vargas episodes always hit a little different, but hooooooooolllllyyyyyyyyy…

First of all, those facial recognition devices paired with the automatic guns are the stuff of nightmare fuel. No thank you. But good lord, Jubal is lucky the gun jammed and he wasn’t also shot.

With Vargas’ family now dead, uh, on a scale from 1-10, how worried should we be? (I’m at, like, 52 right now.) I’m also glad Isobel talked Jubal down from his Very Bad Idea of setting up Vargas to be killed, no matter how convenient it would have been for them. Fingers crossed they can get him contained in jail, but I’m not entirely optimistic.

No matter what, Jubal is going to be so, so, so messed up by this. How does this not cause massive trauma to your everyday life going forward? It’s not even like they were ambushed and he was overpowered; there was nothing he could have done.

(Also, Maggie getting shot and OA freaking out? My heart.)

THE VOICE: “Just a Fool” is actually one of my favorite Blake Shelton songs (and I’d argue the greatest duet to come out of THE VOICE coach collaboration machine—apologies to “Moves Like Jagger,” which obviously was bigger), but Shelton singing it with Wendy made me wonder how frequently he’s actually sung it live. It was cool to see them take it on.

Frankly, the top 2 would have been my top 2, as well. (I wouldn’t have been upset or surprised if Paris and Wendy had swapped spots, though—I do think, unfortunately, Wendy’s finale song choices may have hurt her, because, man, Whitney is hard to take on, no matter how incredibly talented you are.) It’s incredible it took until season 21 for a group to win the show…and given Girl Named Tom’s chart success so far, I’m so, so, so curious if they’ll be the first gigantic success from the show. There are so many singers who should have been bigger than they’ve been so far; I hope Girl Named Tom can make it.

FBI: MOST WANTED: I think this may have actually been my favorite episode of the series thus far. I’m a sucker for a bottle episode, and while this was not entirely that (since we did see what was going on outside), the writers did entirely throw out the show’s format to tell this story. It was stressful as hell and so good. I loved seeing Jess bond with Linwood, while also being a total badass and protecting his family.

I did not think anything bad would happen to Barnes’ wife or child…and I’m so, so glad to be proven right. The team has a new baby!! (Okay, Charlotte and Barnes have a new baby. But still.)
