About Last Night…DOMINO MASTERS, CHICAGO P.D., A MILLION LITTLE THINGS, and More

Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!
THE MASKED SINGER: A singer choked?! And another lost their mask? What a…weird premiere. Good singers, but…weird.
CHICAGO FIRE: Man, I’m going to miss Brett, but I’m really glad that she and Casey are going to get some quality time together; they deserve it.
It’s fascinating how much Severide is still working with OFI. It’s fun, I like it a lot—and obviously it was very personal considering a friend was hurt—but it’s playing a bigger part in the present-day show than I expected.
Also, Stella is boss-mode? Love to see it.
DOMINO MASTERS: My goodness, this show stresses me out. What they’re able to do is gorgeous, but it’s so intense, because so much can go wrong at basically every moment of the build and even if it looks gorgeous, everything might not fall down right. Also, my God, the backwards “GOAL”??? HOW.
CHICAGO P.D.: Marina Squerciati and Patrick John Flueger were so damn good in this episode, my goodness. We’ve seen Kim and Adam pushed to their breaking point when they were in danger, but their kid? Next level. Watching them navigate the tightest of tightropes as they balanced worry for their daughter and each other—and not seeing eye-to-eye about how to approach things—while also trying to find Makayla broke my heart, because there were multiple times where it did feel quasi-hopeless.
I hope they can really talk things out in the near future, when things have calmed down a bit. I love the family unit they’ve formed, but they’re also quasi-ignoring the elephant in the room about Adam’s rights and what their future actually looks like as family. They are a family, but they need to be 100 percent on the same page.
(But also thank goodness Makayla was safe, if anything happened to her I would have been absolutely destroyed.)
[For more on the episode, here’s what showrunner Gwen Sigan shared.]
A MILLION LITTLE THINGS: Rome being a Gary and Maggie fanatic and having absolutely zero chill about the impromptu kiss was hilarious.
I really hope if Gary and Maggie are doing this, it actually sticks. I’ve liked/loved them with their other romantic partners, as well, but it feels like this needs to be it: actually put the effort in and stick together or realize it won’t work. (I suspect they’ll stay together, but it’s TV, so who knows.)
Given how messy Katherine and Eddie’s relationship could be, I’m so thankful Eddie was respectful about Greta and he helped get her into the hospital to see Katherine. I’m sure things won’t always be perfect amongst the trio, if Katherine and Greta continue on, but this was a lovely first step.
