Couch Madness: ‘Shattered’
March 23, 2022 by Marisa Roffman
In honor of the NCAA tournament season, Give Me My Remote is bringing back our TV-centric bracket, pitting similarly titled episodes against each other: Couch Madness! (Credit for the excellent name goes fellow reporter Chris Hayner.)
The seeding is simple: rather than quality of the hour, we’re going by air date (with the oldest episode getting the #1 slot and the newest getting #8). With Peak TV, this will not include every single show that has used this title; rather, we picked a selection from what was available.
The first round will run from Wednesday, March 23 through Friday, March 25. Round two will kick off on Monday, March 28, with the final face-off starting Thursday, March 31.
First up? “Shattered.” Keep reading for the bracket, episode descriptions (from IMDB), and the poll. (For the other episodes competing, check out all the brackets here!)
STAR TREK: VOYAGER (1): “Voyager encounters an energy field which leaves each section – and its crew – existing in a different time period.”
vs.
FBI: MOST WANTED (8): “The team pursues an abusive man who is on the hunt for an ex-girlfriend trying to escape him; Jess and Sarah make plans to take their dream vacation together.”
SMALLVILLE (2): “While Lex continues to investigate the dark past of his father, he meets Morgan Edge with a new face after plastic surgery, and collects evidence to send Lionel Luthor to prison for the murder of his parents. However, a hit man tries to kill Lex in the mansion, but he escapes to Kent Farm. Clark goes to the mansion to retrieve the evidence against Lionel from the safe and finds that there is no hint of the claimed attempt against Lex’s life. When Lionel goes to the Kent Farm and tells that Lex is paranoid and delusional over the death of Lex’s infant brother years ago, Jonathan and Martha question his sanity. Clark decides to investigate deeper to see if his friend is delusional or there is an evil plot against him. As it turns out, the answer is literally… both. Although Morgan Edge is indeed alive and after both Lex and Clark, Lex’s paranoia is real, which leads to him injuring Lana after he suspects her to be a part of the conspiracy against him. Clark then tries to stop Lex from killing Morgan, and in so doing is forced to reveal his secret to Lex.”
vs.
STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS (7): “After capturing Maul on Mandalore, Ahsoka’s journey to the Jedi Council is disrupted when Order 66 is declared, turning her world upside down.”
CSI: MIAMI (3): “When a drug dealer is gunned down in his home, Horatio and the team must determine who, out of three suspects, committed the crime. Meanwhile, Delko faces a serious threat to his career, and Calleigh makes a decision about hers.”
vs.
COLD CASE (6): “Valens partners with Rush to locate her sister, who was abducted from her drug-littered motel room, and Jeffries tries to bring justice and closure to a long-suffering mother whose daughter’s murder case has remained unsolved for 17 years.”
WITHOUT A TRACE (4): “A 15-year-old ice-skating champion goes missing two months after her elder brother died in a car accident. Suspicion is on her parents, who may be pressuring her to train harder and win, as well as fellow skaters who may be competitive and an older man the skater was last seen with.”
vs.
CROSSING JORDAN (5): “A special prosecutor appears to audit the department, Jordan skirts the law trying to catch a pedophile, and Woody is horrified when pieces of a woman are found scattered along the highway, and no one seems to care.”
