The CHICAGO FIRE Team Teases a Possible Stellaride Wedding

After a number of speed bumps along the way, CHICAGO FIRE’s Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) are finally heading toward a wedding…probably.

“The wedding is indeed…I mean, we’re headed towards the finale that is going to be very memorable,” CHICAGO FIRE showrunner Derek Haas teased to reporters in the video below during One Chicago Day. “The Kidd-Severide build up has been a long time coming and the event…we’re CHICAGO FIRE. So if you think it’s gonna be one thing…it might not exactly happen the way all the characters have in mind.”

“I love the the journey these two characters have been on,” added executive producer Andrea Newman. “And the fact that…they love each other so much. Obviously they’re engaged, that’s the plan, they’re going to get married. But they also both have this kind of dark history with marriage and relationships.”

“Kidd had the previous marriage that was abusive and horrible and Severide has this role mode of his dad and his mom’s marriage, which was terrible and also somewhat abusive,” she continued. “And so they both carry a big burden into this. And the question is, when push comes to shove, can they take that leap? There’s all sorts of complications we’re throwing their way. But they’re amazing together and we love them. We love that journey they’re on.”

If the wedding can happen as planned, CHICAGO FIRE stars Eamonn Walker (who plays Chief Boden) and Hanako Greensmith (who plays paramedic Violet) had a few thoughts about how their characters might be incorporated into the big day.

“I guess it kind of depends on what kind of wedding Stella sees for herself,” Greensmith noted. “Does she want this like big bachelorette moment, maid of honor moment, bridesmaids? Or does she want it to be kind of intimate and kind of closer and just her close knit family circle? But I’d love to see Violet get to help her through any of that in any way because it’s always nice seeing the women at 51 come together.”

For Walker, he acknowledged he was hoping Boden would have a big part of the couple’s day: “Because I’ve taken onboard Kidd as my kind of surrogate daughter, I would really appreciate giving her away.”

Teased Newman, “Maybe that was already on the table or maybe the wedding won’t actually happen and so then…all possibilities are on the table.”
