LAW & ORDER: Rick Eid Teases a Personal Case for Price and His Evolving Partnership with Maroun
May 11, 2022 by Marisa Roffman
Things get “personal” for Price (Hugh Dancy) on the Thursday, May 12 episode of LAW & ORDER, “The Great Pretender,” showrunner Rick Eid teases, as their case “deals with the opioid crisis.”
As such, the hour allows for a bit more insight into the ADA—and his dynamic with fellow ADA Maroun (Odelya Halevi).
“They’re still trying to figure each other out,” Eid acknowledges. “And in this episode, you’ll see Maroun trying to figure out Price—and Price probably not being as forthcoming as she would like. And just some tension between the two of them as she’s trying to be a dutiful supporter and a partner to him in this in this case that she knows is really important to him. And she does some things that Price may not agree with.”
The writers have drawn inspiration from the actors’ natural chemistry to help with where they’re taking that relationship. “You discover it when they’re [on-screen] together, and it continues to evolve and change,” Eid says. “They’re great together.”
“We just want them to feel like partners,” he continues. “That’s what we keep telling Odelya and Hugh: ‘He might be senior to you, and he might have the final say, but you guys are partners.’ This is a two-handed machine—that’s how we try to approach it.”
